(Bonny Eagle District Health service staff)

Welcome to Bonny Eagle District Health Services.  Health services foster the growth, development and educational achievement of  students by promoting their health and well being and identifying and addressing needs.  We build public and private partnerships to ensure quality services that are effective and current to keep with the changing needs of our students and communities.  Our website goal is to have a central place to find health information and access necessary forms as it pertains to school.

School nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well-being, academic success and life-long achievement and health of students.  To that end, school nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety including a healthy environment; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self advocacy, and learning (National Association of School Nurses, 2010).

The State of Maine recommends Vision screenings to be completed in intervals---PreK, K, 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9. Hearing screenings are done in PreK, K, 1, 3 and 5.  Re-screening can be done at any time a teacher, parent, or student requests.  Parents are only contacted if there is need for referral or unusual findings are found.
